5/26/2026 - what did they do with the xtra?
Hello netizens, i am about to discuss the new Mr. Pibb which used to be Pibb Xtra which used to be Mr. Pibb
as a long time pibb xtra enjoyer i anticipated the new pibb becoming more widely available with a national rollout since pibb xtra is not easily accesible where i live, however, i have criticisms. I will miss dearly the pibb xtra graphic design. It looked like pibb tastes. the new design is FINE i guess but it feels a lot more generic, more like the many other dr. pepper clones out there.
Most importantly they have changed the pibb formula. I have acquired a few of the new mr. pibbs & while it still has the unmistakable pibb spirit I am afraid it does not taste as good as it's predecessor. i cannot taste the xtra. My main soda has been Dr. Pepper, but like most Dr. Pepper fans I secretly like Pibb Xtra better. I guess I'm becoming a defunct soda yearner. I'd probably be one of those people who liked crystal pepsi. Pibb Xtra will stay in the same place in my heart right next to space flavored coca cola. coconut dr pepper will soon join it as soon as it is inevitably discontinued.
I have a long standing theory that they killed mr. pibb & juiced him to get the xtra in pibb xtra. now it is yet again mr. pibb but where is he in the marketing? where is the face of mr. pibb? surely theres a pibb jr.
i also think they should bring back the slogan "it goes down good"
pibb zero is still better than diet dr pepper
